A challenge to the judicial process?

The judge presiding over proceedings brought by unjustly imprisoned politician Anwar Ibrahim qualified the proceedings as above.

Really? What does that judge think the Courts are there for at all? If not to put right gross injustices?

Everyone in Malaysia, with the possible exception of this Judge, is fully aware that the conviction in that case was fraudulently obtained by taking the acquittal to the Court of Appeal; a manoeuvre unheard of in any proper judicial procedure.

The High Court tried the matter, heard the witnesses and saw the other “evidence” and properly concluded that there were no grounds for convicting. To “re-try” the matter in the Court of Appeal was a gross travesty of justice for which all those responsible will pay the appropriate penalties in the near future.

The High Court should now be concentrating its attention on righting a scandalous judicial abuse while it still has credibility in the public eye. Will it have the courage and professionalism to do so?
