PH leader in waiting Anwar is absolutely right when he says that PH WILL get rid of the dictatorial laws that the criminal BN government inflicted on the Malaysian public.

It is also absurd to claim that the temple riots at Subang cold only be dealt with by using such laws. The PDRM, for all its leadership faults, is perfectly capable of dealing with riots using the ordinary corpus of law; in existence since before Independence. And it is disingenuous, to say the least, to contend to the contrary.

There is always a tendency for politicians and governments to take the easy way out of difficult situations and this manifested itself over the temple problem. But weakness wins no friends and merely encourages opponents who scent victory from its display.

For all these reasons Anwar must be supported in his view and the oppressive laws repealed at the earliest opportunity. Lingering doubts as to whether arch criminal Najib and his remaining followers and political allies might try to exploit the resulting situation can be laid to rest by the simple expedient of consigning him, and any others deemed a danger to public order, to prison on remand, pending their outstanding trials.
