The word chosen by PAS leader Awang Hadi to describe millions of his fellow Malaysians. Coolies who, according to him, should be grateful that they were allowed by “master race” Malays to be in Malaysia at all.

It is a point of view. No doubt about that even if many Malaysians, Malays included, would view it as the ravings of a communalist. But President Hadi should ask himself why, if he is right, it was the Malay element in the Malaysian community which threw out his UMNO allies in the recent general election and chose a multi racial party to take over the government of the country.

It is not necessary here to ask if he committed any criminal offence in making his remarks. That is something for the PDRM to enquire into, and they no doubt will. But however that turns out President Hadi should be aware that his racist views are NOT shared by the majority of Malaysian citizens who regard then as ravings at best and racist as well. They have no place in Malaysia and the sooner he understands that the better for all of us.
