Press comment around the current election campaign in Sabah has included some to the effect that PAS are “losing nothing” and “showing maturity” by staying clear of it. As well they might seeing that Islamist fanatics are in very short supply there and PAS have nothing else to offer voters. In fact if they were not able to exploit religious and racial sentiments they would get no votes; anywhere.
It would indeed be nice to see a show of “maturity” by PAS leaders. They could begin by paying back to the State the money they diverted to buy the luxury cars they drive around in; at public expense, of course.
It is right to say that they are, “losing nothing” since of course they have nothing to lose, fanaticism being an unknown plague in the Borneo State.
