A PAS official is reported as denying that the appointment of PAS boss Hadi as a “special envoy” was requested by PAS. We are led to believe that it was down to the special experience and capabilities of the PAS bigwig. He and his fellows certainly recently demonstrated their “capabilities” by buying a number of super Mercedes models with money obtained to help their State government pay salaries. Are the State workers in question walking to work or queuing at moneylenders for the monetary help denied to them?
Whatever the answer it can be doubted that they will be handing over any “hearts” to the party any time soon. More interesting is the question of how does PAS expect their supporters to continue supporting them in the face of such behaviour by some of its leaders? Regrettably the answer appears to be by gross misuse of their religious sentiments. Simply because someone is, or purports to be, a religious leader is no reason to overlook behaviour that by any standards, religious or otherwise, must be regarded as improper at best, and possibly illegal as well.
In any case, as good Muslims, such supporters will be aware of what the Koran states as being the fate of wrongdoers. Do the PAS leaders acknowledge that doctrine and , if, so, why did they flout it.
