Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has linked the earthquake and tsunami that has killed more 1,900 people in Palu, Indonesia, to LGBT activities.
“What we see in Malaysia is also worrying. We know, at Palu, where the earthquake and tsunami happened, it was reported that there were over 1,000 people who were involved in such (LGBT) activities.
“As a result, the whole area was destroyed. This was a punishment from Allah,” the parliamentary opposition leader told the Dewan Rakyat.
He said this in a follow-up to his oral question on what the government’s stance on LGBT was.
How Malaysians must feel grateful to have an educated scientist back in charge, a man who knows better than to smear the memories of no less than 1,900 innocent people with a load of self-serving mumbo jumbo, in the era of mass airplane travel and mega-structure constructions that prove our understanding of how our planet works.
Zahid’s toxic talk was directed at people he cynically believes to be ignorant in Malaysia, since when in government his party failed to bring them the education they deserved and worked hard to preach nonsense to bring obedience through religious channels they sought to take control of.
A nine year old in a modern school is taught about tectonic plate activity, which is active in the Palu region and causes earthquakes as the earth’s crust moves. It means that, however much LGBT people or even Zahid racing on a camel might jump up and down, the inexorable forces created by the heat of the core of the earth will drive the movements that cause those quakes in Palu.
Zahid is a poisonous man with enormous crimes at his door, for which he is currently being investigated. His vast thefts and abuses of power may not spark an earthquake, but they should see him behind bars sooner rather than later. In the meantime he should be denied a platform to rub salt into the wounds of Malaysia’s tragic and innocent neighbours.
Why not send him back to primary school instead?
