In a press statement issued today by the SRC International Media Unit, the former 1MDB subsidiary has again called for action to be taken against individuals who are in positions of authority and chose to assist certain media outlets to fabricate sensational reports.

“SRC International would like to emphasise that the entire RM4 billion we have loaned from KWAP on normal commercial terms is fully accounted for in our balance sheet, in accordance with standard accounting and governance practices.
“We are therefore dismayed that MalaysiaKini and foreign controlled blog Sarawak Report published fabricated materials with malicious intent to suggest that these funds have been misappropriated.

The company again pointed out that the persistent rumours over irregularities in its business transactions is false and fears that there are individuals in positions of authority with access to confidential documents who are deliberately leaking distorted information to jeopardize the company’s business.

“While SRC holds the MACC in high regard, we are concerned about the recent wave of leakages or possible sale of classified information to members of the media and irresponsible, self-interested politicians. This appears to be part of a deliberate and concentrated campaign to undermine state-linked companies and, by extension, the Government.

Is this the same SRC whose boss is still skulking and hiding abroad for fear of arrest and questioning?  If so, who is this speaking for the company through their ‘International Media Unit’?

Whoever it is has the same problem as 1MDB with Sarawak Report. They cannot make up their minds whether to accuse us (and the Wall Street Journal of course) of “publishing fabricated materials with malicious intent” or instead of receiving a “wave of leakages of classified information” and “publishing confidential documents”.

It can’t be both.  So if our reports are false sue us.  If they are true, expect to be investigated.

SRC is using public money and therefore has no right to get on its pompous high horse about being allowed to keep secret such matters as the fact that it channelled some of it (RM42 million) into their boss the Minister of Finance’s personal bank account.

They are accountable to the people and accountable to the law, just like the rest of us.
